Fannie Celesta Scogin Hilton Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Celesta Hilton, 90, Haleyville, were held Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church. Officiating minister was Dr. T.B. Stringfellow. Nichols Funeral home directed burial in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.

Mrs. Hilton died Dec. 15, 1971 at 9 p.m. in Burdick-West Hospital. Born in Houston, Ala. in 1881 she moved to Double Springs in 1914 where she reared her family. She and her husband, J.M. Hilton, came to Haleyville in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1957. A zealous churchwoman, she was a member of the Haleyville First Baptist Church. She was in good health and lived alone until the age of 90.

Survivors include one son, Otto Hilton, Haleyville; one daughter Mrs. Earl Frank Walker Sr., Haleyville; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. C.C. Edmondson; host of other relatives.
