Hogue Was Bornd December the 18 in the year 1903 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sarah Etta Hogue married Monroe Milton Berry July 19, 1911, in Winston County. She died November 3, 1963, and he died December 16, 1962. They are both buried at Macedonia Cemetery in Winston County. James A. Hogue (son of Edward S. Hogue and Shady Ann Maner) was born January 22, 1855, in Georgia. Nancy E. Camp (daughter of Burrel Marion Camp and Mary Stegall) was born December 24, 1854, in Paulding County, GA. According to Bible records, they married December 2, 1875. I have been unable to find marriage records. The Winston County Register of Deaths also records the deaths of James A. and his son, Burl William Hogue. It states: James Hogue (this is Burl) died 11/14/1892, 14 years old, male, white, cause of death: typhoid fever, place of death: beat 2, Informant: B.W. Roden. James Hugue (Hogue) - death October 26, 1893, 35 years, male, white, married, farming, cause of death: wound by gun barrel, place of death: beat 2, Informant: J.C. Taylor. A granddaughter of James A. Hogue stated she was told that he was going to the mill in a horse-drawn wagon and the horses panicked and tried to run. James tried to use the butt of the gun to try and brake and the gun barrel went thru his chest. He died the following day. The Register of Deaths above and the Bible records confirm this. Nancy and her seven daughters moved to Alabama City to work in the cotton mills. She and several daughters later moved back to Winston County and Nancy died here in 1917. She and James are both buried at Macedonia Church Cemetery in Winston County. Submitted by Treva Hood (ferlinhood@centurytel.net)
