Tavern Topics. Died, on last Saturday at 11 o’clock at his home, Mr. John Hunter. His death was a general surprise to the community and was a great shock to the entire settlement, as he was only sick about 3 weeks. Mr. Hunter is well known to the most of the people of the east and central parts of the county. He was a man that was never too busy to lend a helping hand to any charitable work that was needed in his community. The funeral services took place at the Inman cemetery and was conducted by Rev. L.P. Whaley, which was listened to by a vast multitude of his relatives and friends. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn their loss. Mr. Hunter came to this county from Georgia several years ago and always worked for the betterment of his community. We extend the bereaved our deepest sympathy. [J.M. Hunter, 26 Jan 1857 – 11 Jun 1909; buried Enmondfield Cemetery]
