Death Claims Mr. J.M. Ward. One of Haleyville’s Oldest Residents Passes Away. Tuesday morning, about 4 o’clock, Mr. J.M. Ward, one of Haleyville’s oldest and most highly respected citizens, was summoned by death into the great beyond. Mr. Ward has been ill for only a short while, and his death was unexpected and a shock to the residents of the city when it was learned that he had passed away. He was seventy-three years old at the time of his death and is survived by five children, two daughters, Mrs. Mollie Carer(?) and Mrs. W.C. Mayhall, both of Haleyville, and three sons, Messrs. Bud, Marion and Dave Ward. The remains wee carried to Sardis cemetery Wednesday morning for interment at that place, near Lynn, Ala. Mr. Ward at one time was sheriff of this county, and had many friends in Haleyville and throughout Winston County. The Journal extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
