Joe Maxwell Died At Home Tuesday. Mr. Joe Maxwell, one time Democratic Sheriff and member of the legislature from Winston County, died Tuesday at his home at the Charley Avery place on the Gamble Mines road. Suffering from three attacks of paralysis during the past years, Mr. Maxwell has been ill constantly, and death was thought to be a relief.

He was approximately sixty years of age and a long and well-known resident of this section of the state, being one of the few Democratic sheriffs to be elected in Winston County. At the time of his death, Mr. Maxwell was engaged in farming on the Kilgore farm north of Jasper.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife and eight children; five girls and three boys. Funeral services will be held at Addison, Winston County, today. Hundreds of friends and followers of Mr. Maxwell are mourning his death and extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
