III. Old Business:

    1. Karon Welch contacted Jason White of Final Touch in Cullman about our T-shirts. He created two designs, and it was voted upon to order the one with the logo on the front with the pictures on the back. This will not be much of a fundraiser project for the society but will be used for advertising. The shirts will be good quality and not thin. A minimum of fifty was voted upon to be ordered: 5 2X, 5 3X, and 40 of other sizes.
    2. Darryal will still contact Jim Manasco about the condition of the Free State Barn.
    3. The archives has permission to be open on the last Saturday in April through to the third Saturday in May, regular hours. A reporter from the Daily Mountain Eagle came and did an article on the society and archives on March 14 to be released nearer this time.
    4. Our taxes are complete, filed, mailed in, and the Downs firm has been paid.
    5. We have not heard from the Eagle Scout on the landscaping work.
    6. Jerry checked with the Walker County Probate Judge and will check again concerning the old newspapers they have in their possession on Winston County.
    7. Steve Turner was unable to present a program tonight but will at the April meeting.
    8. We received good responses from the letters that Dianne mailed out on renewing membership.
    9. The society is low on our Winston Roots, Vol. 1 book. The society approved for P.J. to order 30.

IV. New Business:

    1. The society approved for a renewal subscription to Ancestry.com for the archives.
    2. Since our safety deposit box rent will be coming due soon, the society approved for it to be closed and the cash to be consolidated with the checking account.
    3. After discussion, Darryal made a motion to purchase an electric stapler, and it passed. P.J. will check on getting it.
    4. Newsletters are out and will be mailed this week.
    5. P.J. has started a school location project. Currently, out of the 100 plus historic schools located throughout the county, only eight have yet to be located. Once the project is completed, the University of Alabama will plot a map for us to sell. The cost will be approximately $100 to create the map with $10 to $15 for each map. Darryal made a motion for the society to pay this expense, Jerry seconded, and the motion carried.
    6. Shelby County Historical Society has a pioneer certificate program. It is a good idea for Winston to do the same, but there will be much involved in this. Members are encouraged to consider this and report at the next meeting.
    7. P.J. brought attention to the fact that other local societies have book-style printing for their newsletters. P.J. has permission to check on a place to have these done and a price.
    8. Dianne and Trevia spoke with the Haleyville Civitan Club today, and they will help the archives financially.

V. Program:

    1. None.
