The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

  1. Minutes:
    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. PJ Gossett made motion to accept the minutes as read Jerry Lovett seconded; the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Checking $3,863.29 +45.70-81.74=$3827.25
    2. No Petty Cash Report

III. Old Business:

    1. PJ discussed the newsletter, he changed the format he is almost done with December and if he is approved he will be done with March 2013 as well.
    2. Ronald found 2 pieces of metal; they are going to try and get at least one up tomorrow the 19th of September. Trevia asked if we could hire someone to install the metal if you don’t want to do it. Ronald said yes he would welcome any and all work done.

IV. New Business:

    1. Darryal Jackson discussed the Free State of Winston book we ordered. The book has always been a good seller. The cost is $14.62 sell for $20.00 members can purchase the books for $15.00. PJ made motion Ronald seconded. Darryal wants to buy 10 books.
    2. Trevia mentioned we only have one Etta Looney book do we want to more. Faye Ellenburg made motion that we order another case and Cindy Guthrie seconded it.
    3. Trevia also mentioned the Free State of Winston pin that we could get the remained of the pins which is 200 at cost of $2.25 each. Trevia made motion that we not get involved with the sell of the pins and Faye Ellenburg seconded it.
    4. PJ asked if he could put a copy of the school map in the newsletter if he could order from the University. That it would generate interest in the maps.
    5. PJ asked if he could spend $15.00 for the Peyton Baughn’s history. Ronald made a motion and Darryal seconded.
    6. It was mentioned that our Dishonesty policy was up for renewal and that it should go ahead and be paid. The balance is $105.00

A. We watched a DVD on the old General Stores
