The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read.
    2. Ronald made a motion to approve the minutes as read.
    3. Treva seconded and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Beginning Balance: $2,042.12
    2. Deposits: $591.52
    3. Checks: $368.80: $87.20, UPS Store, newsletter printing; $281.60, Treva, Lulu book order
    4. Ending Balance: $2,264.84

III. Old Business:

    1. P.J. contacted the Tuscaloosa Genealogical Society about a newsletter swap but has not heard back.
    2. A computer has been purchased out of the computer fund for $439.99.
    3. Treva and Ronald has ordered more books from Lulu since we had a 30% off coupon. Thirty-six were purchased of volume four, and twenty more of volume one.
    4. The Tidwell Reunion was September 17, and Dianne sold three of our books.
    5. Dianne and Treva will be the speakers at the Marion County Genealogical Society on October 3rd at 7:00 PM at the Winfield Community Center. They are wanting to purchase some of our books.
    6. P.J. and Raven went to the Old Hood Cemetery and got the GPS coordinates. Ronald suggested a field trip, and we will meet at 10:00 on the day of our next meeting, October 18th, at 10:00 at the Forest Inn in Rabbittown.

IV. New Business:

    1. The Alabama Genealogical Society’s Fall Seminar will be at the Alabama Department of Archives and History on October 8th.
    2. Ronald asked about changing the covers on our Winston Roots books to reflect their price. We decided to do this on future books.

V. Program:

    1. Free family group sheets were passed out. A workshop was planned on how to start genealogy, but due to few people at the meeting, we had fun filling out our own family group sheets from memory.
