I'm researching my ggg-grandparents - David Burton Ford and Mary J. Williams. David Burton Ford was born in 1844 in Union Co., GA to William C. Ford and Sarah Jane Best Ford. By the beginning of the Civil War the family had moved to Walker Co. AL. David Burton Ford married Mary J. Williams, born ca 1845 in AL. They are listed in Walker Co. in 1870 and 1880 census, showing nine children: Jane, Hannah, Rebecca, Billy, John, Roxie, Joseph, Sarah and Minerva. No later than 1888, they had moved to Winston Co. where he was a doctor. The Registers of Births and Deaths show him (as D.B. Ford) active in Beat 5 until June 1891. I believe that he is the same D.B. Ford who was elected to the Alabama State House of Representatives and served two terms 1892-1896. They were granted land in the southwest part of Winston Co. under the Homestead Act in 1895. The only other thing I know about Mary J. Williams is that she had a brother named Henry. I would appreciate any additional info, especially about Mary or about them after 1896.
