Would anyone have a book or any kind of records that might show the residents of the Falls City Alabama area about 1870? My ancestor was Solomon Ray who was listed signing a loyalty oath in 1867 in Winston co Al but was not listed in the 1870 Winston co Al census but his wife was listed as a widow living with their oldest son Silas Benjamin Ray in the 1880 Winston co Al census. He died in 1885. I am trying to find some reference to solomon Ray who died sometime between 1867 and 1880. Part of his property is now covered by Lake Lewis Smith. The property owned by Silas Benjamin Ray was about 2 miles southwest of Solomon Ray's property. It is on the Winston co and Walker co Al line and about 1 miles east of Falls City Al. I am trying to find where they were buried. They might have been buried on their property. I do know Silas Benjamin Ray was a member of the Hermaon Baptist Church just south of the county line in Walker co Al. Solomon Ray might have been missed in the 1870 census by the census taker. Any reference anyone has to Solomon Ray or his wife Jane Church Ray and their son Silas Benjamin Ray please email me at rossesmith@hotmail.com Thanks, Ross
