Lumber Center

In years gone by, Winston County had numerous sawmills like this one, and with an abundance of timber throughout the county, had a great deal of lumber shipped into other states. This sawmill, near Haleyville, was in operation in 1910. Some crossties used to build the Illinois Central railway were sawed here. Pictures are two brothers: C.G. & H.M. Wilson.
