Robert A. Hill, an aged and prominent citizen of Double Springs, Ala., died at Lynn, Sunday morning June 17th 1923. He had been on a visit to one of his sons, W.W. Hill, in Tennessee, when he took sick. Realizing that his illness was serious he came to Lynn where his son, R.L. Hill, who is a medical doctor, resides, and remained there until his death.

He was prominent in politics in Winston, serving on committees for many years, and was at one time elected to the office of Tax Collector, which he filled with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of the people. He was a Confederate vetran. Entering the army when quite young, he served with distinction until the close of the war. He was quiet and unassuming, and had not an enemy in the world. Hospitable to a fault, his home was the mecca toward which many a wayfarer set his eyes when the sun began to sink in the west.

He reared large family, four sons and three daughters, all of whom are living and have prominent places in the social and business circles.

He was born on the 8th day of July, 1838. Had he lived to the 8th of next month he would have been 85 years old.

He was buried at Corinth cemetery beside his companion who preceded him several years ago. The burial service was conducted by Rev. McReynolds of this place and Rev. S.D.F. Lane, of Haleyville, and was attended by a large congregation of sorrowing friends and relatives.
