West Cemetery, Winston County, Alabama, T11S R10W S20 This cemetery has two graves. One is unmarked, and the cemetery is locally known as the "Green B. West Cemetery." The marked grave reads: SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF MRS. SARAH A. WEST WAS BORND SEP THE 17 1826 AND DIDE NOV THE 10 1871 PUT UP BY G.W. OMARY 1888 The unmarked grave is Green B. West, First Alabama Cavalry (Union) Soldier. He was in Company L. He died in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 19, 1864. He was brought back here and buried on his own property. Although there is a tombstone for him in Concord Cemetery (about 100 - 200 yards away), the actual oldest grave at the present Concord is 1891. Green Berry West was born in 1822 in Walker County, Alabama. According to census records, Sarah Ann was the wife of Green B. West; the dates on census records also match her tombstone; her maiden name was Lovett. A Sarah Ann West briefly taught school in the western part of the county in the early 1840s. At the four-way stop in Natural Bridge, head west on Hwy. 278, pass Hwy. 13, and turn left on County Road 9 (part of the Old Byler Road). Go about .3 miles, and the cemetery is on the right about 100 yards into the woods.
